They may still be disrupted and shift their positions as a result of being attacked by melee troops, in which case they have to be ordered out of kneel firing to reposition. This greatly increases the amount of firepower line infantry can unload in an area, but they cannot be ordered to move until the ability is turned off. Kneel Fire is a toggled ability for line infantry, causing the first rank to kneel so that the first and second ranks can fire simultaneously. The dictates of fashion will kill the fools who follow them. And so modernity must have purpose, or it is a meaningless affectation. Yet if the men cannot fire in a disciplined way, what use are the modern guns? When all fire together, few can stand before them. Using both methods three times creats a daimyo with six honour plus three in reserve, allowing him to lose three honour without any penalty. This method only works, however, if the enemy does not field cavalry. Surviving the battle with zero or minimal casualties usually results in a heroic victory. Heroic victories can be easily gained by exploiting the in-game clock: if the enemy attacks the daimyo with a superior force, he can simply run circles on the map until time expires. Vassals come with benefits including being guaranteed trade partners as well as bonus income, but can drag the player into more wars if other factions declare war on them. The most consistent methods of gaining honour are acquiring vassals and achieving heroic victories. Honour operates in much the same manner, but gaining and losing it is changed slightly. The Shimazu Clan's daimyo all have +1 honour, granting them 4 honour by default.
